About

Meet Audrey

Medical technologist by training, writer and editor by vocation — with a strict work ethic and a love of the written word.

Born in Scotland, Audrey moved with her family to South Africa when she was nine years of age. She qualified as a Medical Technologist in 1986 and spent many years working in a clinical pathology laboratory, in particular managing the haematology department. In 2002 she immigrated to the Netherlands and completed her NTII (State Exam, second language Dutch level II).

Audrey’s professional background is in medical technology, but the written word has always been her first love. She’s worked in the Netherlands as a journalist, editor and writer for various publications and companies, as well as in academia. She’s also worked as a technical writer for an international IT company, and more recently as a QC reviewer of pharmaceutical documents.

Always interested in writing, Audrey spent much of her free time penning short stories and honing her writing skills. As a devoted reader, she has been involved in many book clubs and is the founder and coordinator of an active English reading group based in the heart of Twente.

She has worked as a journalist researching, interviewing and writing articles for the international academic community in the Dutch newspaper, the UT-Nieuws. She has written a large number of articles for an international business review magazine which targets the top-tier global management readership at CEO level, and has been employed to write commercial and technical content for a number of companies.

With her medical background, Audrey has been employed to data review (QC) and edit a range of clinical pharmaceutical documentation, and is currently working as a consultant clinical editor for an international pharmaceutical company. Her years of experience working in a medical environment has given her a large medical vocabulary and provided her with a strict work ethic.

In all of her work she strives to maintain the integrity of the message behind the written word. And she likes to keep on top of things, so you can expect a fast turnaround to meet those important deadlines.
